A field trip or excursion is a journey taken by a group of people to a place away from their usual environment. In education, field trips are defined as visits to an outside area of the normal classroom and made by a teacher and students for purposes of firsthand observation.
Field trips are educational trips to sites where students have the opportunity to observe their chosen subject outside of a classroom setting, collect samples and to conduct research.
The purpose of the trip is usually observation for education, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities, such as going camping with teachers and their classmates.
Eg a visit (as to a factory, farm, or museum) made (as by students and a teacher) for purposes of firsthand observation.
Benefits of field Trips
On a field trip, students are more likely to retain information. Being immersed in information and being involved in visual and practical experiences will help students remember, learn and understand subjects. Field trips will help reinforce classroom materials, bringing lessons to life.
